While volunteers continue to join the compulsory fire department from 1930 onwards, the town of Weißensee is forced to form a voluntary fire department due to a decree issued by the Minister of the Interior on 13.01.1934. On 01.03.1934, the “Volunteer Fire Brigade” of the town of Weißensee is founded in the Ratskeller. The volunteer fire department has 37 members.

There are currently 62 volunteer members in the individual emergency services, of which

  • 26 members in the Weißensee emergency department
  • 7 members in the Scherndorf operations department
  • 12 members in the Waltersdorf emergency services
  • 11 members in the Herrnschwende emergency department

On June 5, 1999, the Weißensee volunteer fire department, now equipped as a central base fire department, receives a new, modern fire station on Ulmenallee.
